Support for Skilled Labour and Apprenticeships

The work of bricklayers, crane operators, welders, and others are essential in building the future of Canada – and a Mark Carney government will invest in their futures.
Today, April 5, Mark Carney announced a plan to cover apprenticeship training costs of up to $8,000 and to create more training opportunities in the skilled trades, so more Canadian workers can join these professions and secure higher-paying careers.
We will also increase access to union-led training initiatives by doubling the funding of the Union Training and Innovation Program from $25 million to $50 million annually;
Establish a new $20 million capital funding stream for colleges to support new training spaces for apprenticeships;
Uphold the Apprenticeship Service program to support employers in hiring new apprentices in Red Seal trades, with up to $10,000 for eligible employers for each new apprentice hired;
Increase labour mobility for skilled trades people between provinces and territories through the vital work of breaking down internal trade barriers; and
Expand the Labour Mobility Tax Deduction to ensure workers who travel more than 120 km from their home to a job site can deduct more of their expenses, and commit to significantly increasing the per-year tax deduction limit.

Investing in Business

The tariffs from President Trump are causing a lot of uncertainty and stress for Canadian businesses.
Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara know we need to find new ways to stabilize and grow Canada’s economy. This includes creating better trade options within Canada.
That’s why on July 1, we will put forth legislation to remove all federal barriers to interprovincial trade and labor mobility, creating a more open and competitive Canadian market.
Combined with cutting taxes for the middle class,.canceling the capital gains inclusion rate increase and raising the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption, we are listening to our constituents and acting on their needs.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote to build Canada strong.
Facts over slogans - Stats don't lie
Despite attempts by the other guys to mislead voters, crime is down in our riding. The statistics don't lie. Check out the year over year and six year comparison numbers in the slideshow galleries below.

We Care About Your Family

We know how hard inflation has hit many families over the last few years. That’s why we raised the Child Care Benefit in recent years to meet the rising cost of living.
Hard working families throughout our community of
Vaughan-Woodbridge are getting extra help through this tax-free monthly boost.
As well, we know that the $10-a-day childcare program is essential support for working families as they navigate careers and raise their children.
I voted for this program because I know how much it helps. Pierre Poilievre voted against it.
We will continue to provide valuable support to families in Vaughan-Woodbridge and throughout Canada.

Canada Strong For Agriculture!

In the face of President Trump’s tariffs, the Liberal Party of Canada today announced its plan to protect farmers, ranchers, and agrifood workers and strengthen Canada’s food sector across Canada.
“Canada’s dairy sector is off the table in any negotiations with President Trump,” said Mark Carney, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
We will implement policy measures to defend supply management, invest in businesses and workers, and cut red tape.
Through these measures we will protect Canada’s commitment to supply management and supply-managed sectors such as dairy, poultry, and eggs;
Make permanent the doubling of the revenue protection for farmers under the AgriStability Program, from $3 million to $6 million per farm, in the case of significant revenue drops caused by the impacts of tariffs, extreme weather events, and other external shocks;
Build more domestic processing capacity, including food processing capacity in rural and remote areas, with a new $200 million Domestic Food Processing Fund;
Increase support for farmers, ranchers, and producers to access new markets for their food products with an additional $30 million in the AgriMarketing Program;
Increase the help for farmers and ranchers to buy new, more efficient farm equipment with a $30 million top up to the Agriculture Clean Technology Program; and,
Double the loan guarantee limit, from $500,000 to $1 million, of the Canadian Agricultural Loans Act program and expand terms by 5-10 years.
A Mark Carney-led government will stand strong against President Trump’s tariffs, create new jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, and build the fastest growing economy in the G7. Vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara: We will build Canada strong!
We Care About Dental Care
Our dental care program has been a huge help to millions of people across Canada.
Here at home in Vaughan-Woodbridge, the program has already seen 30,000 people receive the care they need and deserve.
Starting May 1, up to 75,000 more people will be covered in Vaughan-Woodbridge who don’t have dental insurance.
I voted for the dental care program, Pierre Poilievre voted against it and questioned whether you needed the plan in the first place. He pointed out that workplace plans were more than suitable - completely ignoring anyone who may not be covered through work.
The original dental care plan and now the expansion is being applauded by the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association. said in a news release on Saturday that it "applauds" the federal government for expanding access to the dental care program.
"A population that enjoys good oral health eases the burden on the health care system thanks to a reduced need for emergency department and physician visits for urgent dental care," the association said in a news release.
Listening to the needs of Canadians and delivering the programs our communities need is why it’s vital to vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara.

Zero Carbon Tax

The people told us what they want, and we listened.
I have heard your frustrations with rising fuel costs and the impact of the consumer carbon tax. In one of my recent conversations with Mark Carney, he told me “I will listen to you because you listen to your constituents.”
In that conversation I explained we need to eliminate the consumer carbon tax; it’s hurting our families financially. He listened and the consumer carbon tax is now at zero. The full elimination of the tax will need to take place once we are elected, and legislation is passed.
The best part is that Canadians will still receive their Carbon Rebate as scheduled. Moving forward, instead of a carbon tax that hurts our communities, we will implement a system of incentives to reward Canadians for making greener choices, such as purchasing an energy efficient appliance, electric vehicle, or improved home insulation.
This is the type of government we need, one who listens to the people and uses forward thinking policies to benefit everyone.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote for a better future.
Housing Help
The housing market has faced a lot of challenges in recent years. Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara understand the housing needs of Canadians.
The new Liberal housing plan will create Build Canada Homes to double the pace of construction to almost 500,000 new homes a year.
The federal government will act as a developer to build affordable housing at scale, including on public lands; we will provide over $25 billion in financing to builders using Canadian technologies and resources affordably and sustainably; and we will provide $10 billion in low-cost financing and capital to affordable home builders.
To help first-time homebuyers, we will eliminate GST for first-time homebuyers on homes sold at or under $1 million. That means savings of up to $50,000 for members in our community and throughout Ontario.
But that’s just a couple of ideas to stimulate the housing market. We will also reward investment and incentivize growth in Canada by cancelling the capital gains inclusion rate increase and raising the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption to $1.25 million.
By doing this, we are supporting builders and small businesses who drive our economy.

True Crime Statistics
Despite the propaganda and fear tactics being shared by candidates from the other side, our community in Vaughan-Woodbridge is not seeing crime rise.
It's actually the opposite. Crime rates in the City of Vaughan are down in many significant categories, including attempted murder, break and enter, auto theft,
"Crime trends are going down in Vaughan," says Inspector Carl Mattinen, York Regional Police.
Statistics comparing year over year numbers back this up (as of March 28, 2025).
Attempted Murder is down 100% - down to 0 from 6 incidents; Homicides are down 50% - only 1 compared to 2 last year; Weapons charges are down 57% - 18 compared to 42 last year; Break and Enters (commercial) are down 33% - 78 this year compared to 117 last year; Break and Enters (residential) are down 25% - 73 compared to 97 last year; Auto Theft is down 41% - 246 this year compared to 416 last year; and Robbery is down by 5% - 35 compared to 37 last year.
The statistics don't lie: crime is down in Vaughan and we want to keep it that way.
